Michelle Moraczewski Is a realist, impressionist painter located in Middle Tennessee. Her main subjects are landscapes and people. She works in both oils and pastel.
Michelle Moraczewski’s first memories are drawing at her kitchen table; her feet barely long enough to touch the floor. A native of Chicago, Michelle grew up in an artistic family, her father a professional photographer and mother a piano teacher. At 11 she was shipped off to Paris, France to stay with her grandmother. There, Michelle continued the natural pull to sketch, and added painting into routine as well. She interpreted the castles and countryside, inspired by the many visits to famous museums like the Louvre and Versailles. It was there that her romance with art and architecture began and followed her the rest of her life.
After she graduated from the six-year architecture program at Rice University in Houston, she continued her studies by going back to Paris to the Atelier Neo-Medici to study privately with Surrealist Painter Patrick Betaudier. Greatly inspired, Michelle returned to the US and worked tirelessly to develop a unique style and technique, drawing and painting figures, landscapes, seascapes and still-lifes. Simultaneously she pursued a successful career in architecture and over the years, designed many structures incorporating her sensitive eye for fine art with sustainability, designs with nature, and a stoic traditionalism. All the while, Michelle continued to indulge her passion for fine art.
Michelle currently resides in Middle TN, with her painter husband Jim Poag and two children. Realizing her childhood dreams, Michelle artistically entwines both art and architecture designing buildings, painting and drawing in oil and pastel. Michelle is deeply drawn to the majestic Landscapes of the Middle Tennessee countryside with portraits and figures as the main focus in her work. She continues her studies, most recently with art masters Albert Handel and Elias Rivera.
Michelle’s work can be seen at many art galleries and events throughout the Nashville area and Michelle takes her art to galleries and shows around the US.
